Eric Lefkofsky Is Doing His Part To Fight Cancer And Help Others

Tempus was co-founded by Eric Lefkofsky who is a Chicago entrepreneur who has had great success with many different companies. Tempus offers a long list of services including RNA sequencing of tumors and gathering data, and the company was recently featured by Eric Topol who looks closer at tech advances that make the news. The company has been singled out as a company that is breaking ground in its industry along with the two biotechnologies, gene editing and gene therapy. The latter of these is hoped to be able to treat a unique kind of vision loss that can cause blindness.

Stanford University also made the headlines by developing an algorithm that learns how to diagnose skin cancer and does just as well diagnosing it as a physician can. Also, KardiaBand, which was developed by AliveCor, earned an approval by the FDA for technology that helps track people’s heart rates and lets them know if their are problems. Along with these technologies a technology that sequences pathogens was featured, which helps public health respondents to be on top of outbreaks. Chimeric antigen receptor T, which is an Immunotherapy for cancer was also featured as well as Kite Pharma’s Axicabtagene ciloleucel (Yescarta) and Novartis’ tisagenlecleucel-T (Kymriah). Last, but not least, Omron was featured, which is creating a smartwatch that can read people’s blood pressure and alert them to any kinds of problems that they may need to keep an eye on.

Eric Lefkofksy is the Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Tempus, which is a technology company that is looking to improve the way that physicians deal with cancer. He also helped to put together Lightbank, which is a venture fund that invests in tech companies who look to disrupt their industries. Along with being a businessman, Lefkofsky is a philanthropist who helps many different people and organizations through his charitable organization named the Lefkofsky Family Foundation. He also supports and donates to many local organizations in the Chicago area. He attended the University of Michigan where he graduated and went on to earn his Juris Doctor while studying at the University of Michigan law School.
