Lifeline Screening is the Lifeline to Good Preventative Health

Lifeline Screening is a company that provides relatively inexpensive screenings for individuals as a method of pre-emptive health prognosis. Many people in our society don’t bother to ever see a doctor for a regular checkup unless they think that something is amiss.

The screening tests that are given by Lifeline are the same as those given in hospitals and stand-alone testing laboratories, only with Lifeline, they are offered at very good discounted prices.

The basic tests consist of ultrasound testing, finger-stick blood testing, and a limited electrocardiograph. All of the screenings are non-invasive in nature and are readily available to the patient’s personal physician.

The ultrasound screening is the same kind of test that pregnant mothers receive to discover the sex of their baby. Sound waves are directed towards the part of the body that holds the organs desired to be tested, and a live image appears on the monitor of the technician. Arteries can be viewed for any blockage, and this would include the carotid artery in the neck and the ankle-brachial for peripheral artery disease.

The finger-stick blood test just takes a few drops of blood from the fatty part of a finger and can create a full blood panel that shows cholesterol levels, c-level proteins that check on cardiovascular disease, and a liver test to measure liver disease.

The limited electrocardiograph measures primarily for atrial fibrillation, or an irregular heartbeat. Also called A-Fib, this condition can be very dangerous as they can throw off blood clots which could cause strokes. If discovered, A-Fib should be treated as soon as possible for safety’s sake.

Lifeline screening has helped over 8 million people in its journey towards preventative health care. Its tests and screenings are 100% FDA approved and are a great way for people to inexpensively take a proactive stance towards their own healthy future.

Eric Lefkofsky’s Partnership with University of Chicago; Towards Effective Breast Cancer Therapies

Located in the heart of Chicago, Tempus is a medical startup that is going to revolutionize the way we treat cancer. The company focuses on disseminating crucial genetic and molecular sequencing information to doctors to help them come up with more efficient remedies for their patients. Despite the fact that millions of patients have battled breast cancer, there is insufficient information on how the patients responded to different therapies and results of their genetic makeup.

Tempus was founded by the astute entrepreneur, Eric Lefkosfsky. Eric built the company under the premise that the field of oncology requires data as much as it needs active drugs. For the fight against cancer to be won, scientists and medical professionals have to leverage the power of technology and information.

Personalized medical care happens to very few individuals. There is compelling evidence that this is the right approach in developing remedies for diseases such as cancer. Personalized therapies rely on medical data from patients. Currently, the public health care datasets of cancer patients stand at a paltry 20,000 patients against a likely 50 million individuals who’ve fought cancer. That is why Mr Eric Lefkofsky is a man on a mission. Eric has forged a working relationship with the University of Chicago, where he shall be sharing molecular sequences’ information of breast cancer patients with the doctors of the institution.

The molecular, therapeutic and genetic information to be availed to the University of Chicago shall be obtained from 1,000 cancer patients. The information will then be used by the medical professionals in designing more targeting cancer therapies.

Eric Lefkofsky is a man of means. He is worth a cumulative $1.81 billion according to Forbes. Eric’s wealth is a result of his successful startups such as Groupon; a daily deals website started in the year 2008. Lefkofsky also founded Uptake, a data company that focuses on providing businesses with scientific data on how they can run operations more efficiently and how they can ensure safety. The company’s value rose to $2 billion since the year 2014 when it successfully raised $120 million in funding. Together with his longtime business partner Keywell, Lefkofsky is also the man behind Lightbank.

Lefkofsky earned a law degree from the University of Michigan. He was brought up in the neighborhood of Detroit.

Dr. Sergio Cortes, Expert on Zika Virus

Dr. Sergio Cortes, a specialist about the Zika virus, talked about the virus and has helped bring to light what this virus is and how to avoid the virus. The Zika virus was first noted some 40 years ago on the continent of Africa. Over the next couple of decades, the virus traveled through parts of Asia. Recently, the Zika virus appeared in Latin America. The Zika virus is carried by the Aedes aegypti mosquito.

The first case of Zika appeared in Brazil in April of 2015. The virus has spread quickly and caused great concern among the medical professionals. If the disease is detected quickly and early enough, it can be controlled easily. One thing that has medical experts worried is the link between Zika and microcephaly and Guillain-Barre Syndrome. Guillain-Barre Syndrome is a neurological disease with an autoimmune origin which can be linked to the Zika virus.

Dr. Cortes spoke about several issues and concerns about the Zika virus to help reassure the general public. These issues include Transmission, Symptoms and Diagnosis, Treatment, Recommendations for Pregnant Women, and Prevention. Transmission of this virus is by mosquito. These mosquito lays eggs in good clean water but has adapted to other types if needed. This disease is not contagious. You must be bitten by the mosquito. The person bitten by an infected mosquito is then infected. If a mosquito isn’t carrying the virus, they may bite a person who has been infected by another mosquito and then become infected as well starting a non ending chain.

The symptoms that are most common include fever, muscle pain, and a skin rash. Symptoms are not very aggressive and usually only last a week at the most. Diagnosis is only done by an examination. There are no tests to identify the virus. Treatment is geared to the symptoms so the infected person has some relief. There is not cure for the Zika virus. Doctors treat the symptoms. Symptoms may vary from person to person. Doctors may prescribe an anti-inflammatory or an analgesic remedy. Pregnant women or women planning on becoming pregnant should take precautions to not be bitten by insects. Plan on staying indoors during the worse time insects are known to bite. Use clothing that covers most of the body to avoid bites. Use repellents and even use mosquito netting at night to avoid being bitten while you are asleep.

Sanjay Shah and Autism

The Hedge fund manager, Sanjay Shah, was born and raised in England, but moved to Dubai in 2009. In 2011, his youngest child, Nikhil, was diagnosed with autism. Since that time autism has remained a cause very close to his heart. In 2014, he received some unexpected help. At that time, he got a totally unexpected visit from international famous rapper, Snoop Dogg. This happened on New Year’s Eve as Shah was relaxing in his home. He received information from a friend that Snoop Dogg was in town for a performance.

This friend said the performer wanted to visit him. Snoop had come to the right man. Not only was he the father of an autistic child, but 20-plus years in the banking business had put him in very good stead. The rapper convinced Shah to help him do something to help the autistic. So the two have joined forces to put on a benefit for autism research. They have also persuaded such big stars as Prince, Lenny Kravitz, Elvis Costello, and Joss Stone to help by giving performances. The music-centered benefit will be called Autism Rocks.

The money made all goes to the Autism Research Trust, which funds autism research at the Autism Research Centre. ARC’s full aim is to both find ways to diagnose it as early as possible and then to explore ways to enable the autistic to live full lives. ARC recently found that in autistic patients, different parts of the brain are affected depending upon the sex of the individual. Early studies found the areas affected in males. It had always just been assumed that this applied to both sexes. Shah continues to seek to fund this worthy organization, even while being involved in finance businesses.

He himself has been retired from the actual work of trading since 2009. He currently owns Solo Capital, a stockbroking firm that bought out Old Park Lane Capital just last year. Shah is calming clients who are alarmed by rumors that Solo Capital is experiencing financial trouble. Although there was a little danger in some sectors of their financial dealings, Shah and the management at Solo Capital have assured clients that they have successfully dealt with the issues. In any case, ownership has allowed Shah to remain more in the background which in turn allows him to concentrate on raising money for autistic charities.

Sergio Cortes Takes Charge Of Flooding Health Concerns

The Health Secretary, Sergio Cortes, surveyed the casualties and infrastructure damage inflicted in Xerém, Duque de Caxias by heavy flooding this week. The State Government has provided the Dengue Hydration Center as well as the main shelters in the city, since Sunday. This center can handle providing emergency re-hydration to as many as 300 people each day. All agencies are coordinating to help not only the city of Xerém, but also use the city as a base to help all the surrounding areas devastated by flooding.

Secretary Cortes made this statement: “We are taking steps, planning for the worst and hoping for the best. This center is a preventive action of the state Department of Health to support the municipality, given the amount of accumulated garbage in the city, increasing the possibility of dengue fever mosquito proliferation.”

As a medical professional, Secretary Cortes, whom is an MD, has done much research and developed treatments for back pain and ways to use those treatments to encourage better body posture, which is the source of many issues with back pain. He takes a very practical and preventative approach to healing in his patients. He points out that chronic back pain is the end result of too much chronic use of modern technology without maintaining proper back posture, in many cases.

The Health Minister, Camillo Junqueira, and the National Health Force Conception Mendonça have agreed the government must immediately deliver another Caxis emergency kit, beyond the one already sent into the area. Also, 3,000 treatments of antibiotics were requested as an early intervention against leptospirosis. They recommend drinking bottled water whenever possible.

The State Department of Health sent in Epidemiological Surveillance teams to target preventing spread of diseases, such as leptospirosis, hepatitis A, and severe diarrhea. They are also watching people with chicken pox, meningitis, and dengue fever. The water from several sources supplying Xerém’s shelters have tested positive for infection-causing agents, therefore all people are advised to disinfect their water. The government also delivered 10,000 bottles of sodium hypochlorite to Caxis. These were being distributed through the city’s shelters. The National Health Force will be brought in to manage the situation. This was first reported by ‘Sergio Cortes Oficial‘ here: Sérgio Côrtes acompanha situação.

Dr, Jennifer Walden Discusses Popular Vaginal Cosmetic Surgeries

Women today are being bombarded with images of what culture has deemed the perfect body. While breast augmentation and other types of cosmetic surgeries have been done for years, recently surgeries to correct or enhance female sex organs have become very popular according to the Austin, Texas-based Dr. Jennifer Walden.

The first of these surgeries is known as a labiaplasty. The labia are the folds of skin surrounding the vulva and or on either side of the vagina. The surgery can be performed on either the labia major, or larger outer “lips”, or the labia minor, the inner and smaller folds of skin. The labia can change both the size or the shape of the lips.

One of the more common reasons for women choosing this surgery is due to the popularity of tighter clothing like swimwear, tight jeans and yoga pants that accentuate that part of a woman’s body. Also, the prevalence and wider acceptance of pornographic films have increased many women’s desire to enhance that part of their anatomy. Aside from the aesthetical issues surrounding enlarged labial lips, there are also medical and hygienic concerns, plus some women have reported sexual discomfort.

Vaginoplasty is the other procedure that is gaining in widespread popularity. This procedure is used to “tighten” up a vagina that has become loose due to childbirth or the normal aging process. This surgery can increase the enjoyment from sex for both partners. There is also a non-surgical technique that uses pulses of radio frequencies that is a popular option.

Dr. Jennifer Walden is the spokesperson for the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS and has appeared on a number of television shows and newscast. Her articles and interviews have likewise been featured in a number of popular beauty and women’s health publications. She graduated from the Texas Medical University and performed her fellowship at the prestigious Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat and Lenox Hill Hospitals. Walden has also edited and authored a number of peer-reviewed research articles and a widely used textbook in aesthetic surgery.

Dr. Walden is active in the charitable community in her hometown and goes on frequent international medical service trips with Austin Smiles, a charity dedicated to delivering cleft palate surgery to children around the world. She is also a proponent of the Austin junior League’s FIT (Food in Tummies) program that provides nutritious meals to children over the weekends and during school breaks when they do not have access to school lunches.
